Complimentary registration is provided to qualified journalists who apply in advance for media accreditation to attend Epilepsy Congress events. Journalists who meet the congress media registration criteria will be accredited on a space-available basis. There is no on-site registration for media at congresses.
These are medical scientific meetings. Media registration is for journalists with demonstrated experience covering basic research, clinical science developments and/or the psychosocial aspects of chronic disease and related areas of interest.
Eligibility
Applications for media registration will be accepted from journalists employed by, or on assignment from, recognised print, broadcast, and online general and medical news media.
The Organiser will consider accreditation for one reporter per media organisation (not per outlet, in the case of organisations that control numerous outlets). A maximum of 2 additional passes per outlet may be made available, if space permits, to crews supporting registered journalists filing video or audio reports. Crew passes only allow access to the conference venue, and do not provide access to conference sessions without prior consent. Only the official congress video / photography team are permitted access to record within session rooms as per their assigned schedule.
The following are NOT eligible for application:
Any publication, supplement or electronic product devoted exclusively to the coverage of the congress (e.g. meeting highlights, online congress proceedings or reporting, newsletters and audio conferences) that is distributed nationally or internationally must have the prior written approval of the Organiser.
No publications or materials of any type may be distributed at the congress without the prior consent of the Organiser. Please visit the Media Desk at the congress site to request approval of any materials you wish to make available to conference attendees. Approved materials may only be made available at the designated location.
All articles must acknowledge the Congress source and the International League Against Epilepsy.
Application Process
To be accredited, journalists should submit the following:
All items noted above should be sent to the Congress Secretariat registration@epilepsycongress.org. The Organiser may request additional materials if needed, to verify that the journalist or media outlet qualifies for media accreditation.
Deadlines
Application deadlines for media accreditation will be notified on the Press Information page of the individual event websites.
Embargo Press Release and Slide Publication Policies
Embargoes
News embargoes for results of research or studies presented at any Epilepsy Congress lift at the conclusion of the session in which the study is presented. For example, if a study is presented from 14.00 to 14.30, as part of a session that ends at 15.00, the embargo on reporting on that study and the prohibition on distribution of press releases on that study lift at the end of that session, 15.30.
Poster presentation embargoes:
For poster presentations, embargoes lift at the conclusion of the session in which the poster is presented.
