The ILAE is continuing the successful Mentor-Mentee programme for trainees, which was first initiated at the International Epilepsy Congress 2017 in Barcelona, at the 33rd IEC in Bangkok.
This programme will involve the allocation of a mentor, an experienced individual in the research/clinical area in which trainee demonstrates an interest, to a trainee.
*Please note that the applicant must submit an abstract to the 33rd IEC in order to be eligible to apply for the programme.
Criteria & Selection
Trainees <40 years old
At time of application:
for MDs: within 2 years of start of fellowship
for non-MDs: being enrolled in a graduate student programme (Masters or PhD)
Submission/acceptance of an abstract for the 33rd IEC
Letter from supervisor indicating the applicant fulfils the criteria, including that the work in the abstract submitted is mostly the work of the applicant
Consideration for selection will be based on the above criteria.
If selected, the trainee will be allocated a mentor, invited to an evening event on Sunday 23rd September 2019, and also a meeting later in the congress.
Trainees will have the opportunity to meet with their mentors, as well as to listen to further individuals established in their careers in different regions of the world. The mentors will arrange to attend the trainees’ presentation/poster and also to further consultation.
