The 2005 Novartis Prize for Epilepsy Research
The 2005 Novartis Prize for Epilepsy Research was presented to
Jeffrey L. Noebels, Professor of Neurology, Neuroscience, and Molecular
Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas at the opening
ceremony of the 26th International Epilepsy Congress in Paris.
This prestigious Prize (to the sum of 60,000 Swiss francs) is awarded
in recognition of outstanding research in the field of epilepsy to
a researcher (or research group) outside the pharmaceutical industry
considered by the judges to have made a significant scientific contribution
to epilepsy research. The adjudication panel, made up of distinguished
members of the IBE and ILAE, as well as a representative from Novartis,
award the Prize on the basis of the scientific impact, originality
and innovation, breadth and scope of the research.
